It was another busy week of playing from sun up until sun down, and several late bedtimes! We did a pandemic-aware version of some of our favorite summer activities, including the Summer Reading Program at the library, which as been moved to a curbside pickup approach. They provide these awesome craft kits that we can pick up for the kids each week, and they have also created some scavenger hunts and look-and-find activities in the library windows for the kids. Even though it's different from other years, it has been fun so far! This week's craft is a family barn quilt square that will be displayed on the fence outside the library in late summer.
A big highlight of the week was seeing our friends Ally, Matt and Caroline and meeting their adorable new addition to the family, baby Patrick. The time we get to spend with friends feels extra special, and my heart was so happy seeing these kids together.
Evie and I continued our annual tradition of going strawberry picking, and this year we wore our matching strawberry masks for the occasion since masks are required during picking! The most difficult change to accept was being unable to sample the berries while picking, but we made up for it by chowing down as soon as we got in the car. There is nothing more delicious than a fresh-picked summer strawberry!
Meanwhile, Matt and Noah were busy building a bike ramp for the kids to practice their mountain biking skills. It has been a hit with many neighborhood kids, too!
Over the weekend, Matt and I built a practice board for Evie for Irish Step dance now that she has her hard shoes. She is very excited about it, and we had a fun time putting it together!
We have enjoyed a variety of other summer activities, too!
