Summertime is here!

Last week wrapped up the 2019-2020 school year.  It was a less distinct ending than most school years (with fewer goodbye hugs), but we made sure there were a few festivities to mark the completion of a truly unusual school year.  The kids had their final Zoom meetings, complete with end-of-year slideshows (both made me cry!), there was a teacher car parade through the neighborhood, and we played mini golf and got ice cream with friends on Friday when all the school work was done.  Both kids said they were sad because they didn't feel like they had enough time with their classmates and their teachers, but they are 100% happy to be done with distance learning!  We found out who their teachers and classmates will be for next year, and they are excited to each have a good friend in their class and a teacher that seems like a good fit.  It's hard to imagine what the fall will hold, but for now we will just enjoy the freedom of summer.

 Quite a change from the beginning of the year to the end!

In addition to celebrating Evie and Noah's accomplishments, we celebrated our niece Carly's high school graduation over the weekend!  She certainly made history by finishing her high school career during a pandemic and graduating at a drive-in graduation ceremony.  We are so proud of this girl for all the hard work she has put in over the past 13 years!!  She has a bright future ahead.

As part of the end of school celebrations, we had lots of family and cousin time!  The kids have so much fun together, and we have finally reached the point where we can hang out with the adults while the kids play.  Woo hoo!

We are grateful that we have had the opportunity to return to church for the past two Sundays, and I have been able to play flute, as well.  Our church has taken many precautions to keep everyone safe, and while it's different than church was pre-COVID, it feels really good to be back in the chapel.
