The big highlight of last week was Noah's 6th Birthday! It was the second quarantine birthday in our family, and despite the strange circumstances, we were determined to celebrate our sweet boy. The high temperature on Noah's birthday was 97 degrees, and we had planned an outdoor, safely-distanced celebration for him with family - bring on the sweat! Thankfully, everyone made the best of the extreme heat and was appreciative of the ice cream cake, and Noah had a really happy day (a special shout out to Aunt Pea for bringing Pina Coladas!). He was excited to open presents as soon as he woke up, and then we did some playing, swimming, he biked to get ice cream with friends, and then had his family party, complete with a visit from some very cool Star Wars Storm troopers and a Jedi. He was a little bit hesitant about the characters, but he told me that he really, really liked them.

I made an Ode to Evie a couple weeks ago for her birthday, and I want to take a moment to honor Noah, too. He is our mini engineer who loves to delve into every character imaginable - lawn guys, construction workers, mountain bikers, firefighters, baseball players, football players, drummers, etc. Once he gets into a character, he wants to match every detail, right down to the outfit and accessories. He loves that he is old enough to keep up with Evie and her friends, but he also enjoys his alone time building Legos and playing trucks. He is an incredible rule follower at school, and a very kind friend. Noah is an intense kid with the most tender heart, and his abundant hugs and snuggles make me feel like a very lucky mama.
Another special event last week was a car parade with the teachers from Evie's school on Friday afternoon. It was so touching to see them all honking and waving to their students. We live in an amazing community!
The rest of the week was spent playing with birthday toys, swimming, and keeping up with school work. It's hard to believe we have less than two weeks to go until the end of the school year! Many businesses, stores, churches, and restaurants are starting to re-open here in Vermont, so we are doing our best to find the balance between staying safe and venturing back out in the world.
