Yesterday was a crazy day after a big wind storm swept through Vermont overnight. School was cancelled, we had no power, and lots of trees were down. Aside from a fitful night's sleep, we were lucky to not have any major damage to our house.

The excitement of Halloween is all around, and it has been building with our kids for the past week (as evidenced by their crazy behavior!). In lieu of wearing Halloween costumes to school, Evie had a special book character dress-up day last week. She chose Pinkalicious, whose books we love, and whose costume could easily be pulled from Evie's wardrobe. Evie's favorite part was the pink hairspray!

Saturday, we went on the Halloween Express train ride, and the kids got to take their costumes for a trial run. Mickey and Minnie liked meeting the bigger Mickey Mouse at the train ride, and they are going to be so cute when they go trick-or-treating! We enjoyed some time by the lake afterward, and bumped into Evie's buddy Josie while we were there. It felt like a last hurrah before the weather turns colder, but with the fall we've had, you never know!
My personal highlight of the weekend was getting to spend some time with a few high school friends. Ally and Caroline were visiting, so we had a fun evening out for the grown-ups, and a fun cookie decorating party with the kiddos. I felt like I had been on vacation for a week after having an evening full of laughs with this crew!

A few other highlights from the week included celebrating cousin Colby's 10th birthday and a final visit to Chapin Orchard. It's hard to believe November is just around the corner!

| It's an annual tradition! Hard to believe how little Evie was when we started going here. |
