I don't even know where to begin with this post, but we have just returned from a glorious 10 days at Shadow Lake, where life felt so normal that we *almost* forgot about COVID! At a time when many families had to cancel their summer vacation plans, we felt especially grateful for our family's little cabin in the woods where we could escape from our day-to-day and have some summer fun together.
The Fourth of July was a special evening. A trumpeter kicked off the festivities by playing The Star Spangled Banner, followed by fantastic show of fireworks all around the lake, reminding us that we are all in this together.
The weather was warm and sunny most days, and we all spent a ton of time at the beach and in the water. The kids were free to play in the sand, swim, kayak, paddle-board, and go tubing and fishing. Grandma Betti bought a bunch of floats, so even the adults got in on the fun in the water! When not at the beach, we went biking, made a trip to Hill Farmstead Brewery, ate delicious meals, played some fierce games of beanbag toss, enjoyed happy hour, Bingo games, puzzles, bonfires...it was really wonderful!

Last, but certainly not least, we found out some exciting news when we were at camp. We have been on the list with a breeder for a goldendoodle puppy, and our baby girl was born on July 7th! We can't wait to bring her home in early September!
