A germaphobe's nightmare week

Many of you know that I'm a total germaphobe.  Having kids has forced me to loosen up some, but when they're sick, I revert to my old habits.  Last week we experienced a lovely array of kid germs - vomiting (on me!), stuffy and runny noses, coughing, and the dreaded conjunctivitis!  And that was just with Noah.  The conjunctivitis was a little concerning, because it is a symptom of Zika, and since we were recently in the Caribbean, I had to call the Health Department and find out if he needed to be tested.  Fortunately, he didn't have any other symptoms, so they didn't feel the need to test him.  A few doses of eye drops later, he was much improved.

Evie has just been a little sniffly, and we are hoping that she can fight off all these germs.  The weird thing going on with her is sleep related.  She has been waking up a lot at night and saying she's having bad dreams.  We have tried sticker charts and various ways to motivate her to stay in bed all night, but we are having suspicions that she might be sleep walking.  Sunday night around 9:45, she came down from her room, sat on the couch and started whining, but wasn't talking.  We tried to ask her what was wrong, and she didn't answer.  So, we ushered her to the bathroom, then put her back to bed.  She didn't remember it in the morning!  There was another night when she came out of her room and just went and laid down on the bathroom floor.  Very weird.  Has anyone else ever had a sleep walker?

All these germs have kept our outings pretty minimal, but we have found some fun stuff to do around the house.  We made homemade bread, did some grown-up coloring, and enjoyed several family walks/bike rides since there isn't much snow around.  Evie can cruise along on her bike, and she likes to lead the way and dictate the route (no big surprise there!).  Noah rides in the BOB and Roscoe and I walk/jog to keep up.  It's actually pretty fun and a nice way to get some fresh air as a family during this strange snowless winter.

Our special treat for the week was that our niece Carly came over and babysat, then made dinner for us!  She is seriously amazing...local mama friends, let me know if you need a babysitter or mother's helper!
