Easter fun

The weekend was choc-full of Easter festivities, and we had our buddy Cayden along with us for some of it, since his family welcomed a new baby on Friday (congrats to Tim and Laura!!).  Evie loved having a friend along to join in the fun!

Our first event was the Essex Egg Hunt, which I would typically avoid like the plague.  I pictured pure chaos and a million kids.  It was busy, but well-organized, and the kids had a great time.

Next, we colored some eggs.  It all went well, but Noah needs a little work on GENTLY placing the eggs in the color cups...yikes!

Easter morning at our house was not a huge event, but Evie woke up first and found all the hidden eggs, and loved unpacking her basket.  She was so thrilled with her new jump rope that she ran outside in a pair of tights, a down jacket, rain boots, and Noah's hat so she could practice (notice the frost on the cars behind her - it was cold out!).  Noah was excited about his treats when he got up, but we had to whisk them off to church soon after.

After church, we went to Grandpa Tom's for the annual egg hunt.  "Egg hunt" doesn't do it justice, because this is a massive scavenger hunt that sent us back and forth to Essex Elementary School and all around the neighborhood multiple times.  Clues were hidden in the ground, in gutters, on street signs, frozen in a block of ice, and many more clever locations.  We all had fun and enjoyed the beautiful day together.

Noah needed a mid-hunt snooze

After such a busy day, yesterday we had to deal with the Easter hangover.  Kids were tired, grumpy, and it poured rain all day.  Noah woke up 3 hours earlier than his normal wake time and was wreaking havoc everywhere he went.  I didn't know how I was going to manage taking both kids to the dentist for Evie's appointment, but it ended up being the best thing for us to get out of the house.  Thank goodness for long naps and early bedtimes to help us recover, too!

Evie got a good report from the dentist
