4 months already?!

As promised, this week is about Noah and his 4-month milestones.  He did great at his checkup last week, and while he weighs less than we expected, he is still a BIG boy!  I'm pretty sure Noah cries harder when he gets his diaper changed than he did when he got his shots.  He was a little cranky that afternoon after the shots, but recovered quickly.  

• Height: 25.5 inches (73rd%)
• Weight: 17 lbs. 2 oz. (88th %)
• Head Circumference: 50th % (that's right - even though his head looks enormous, it's average-sized!)
• Eyes: blue (and our doctor thinks they'll stay that way - yay!)

In addition to his big size, he's been doing a lot of "big boy" activities lately.  We busted out the jumperoo and the high chair, and he is loving them.  He's also rolling pretty easily, and did a full log roll yesterday.  We got the okay to start solid foods whenever he shows interest, but weirdly, he isn't really grabbing at our food yet.  I'm sure it won't be long with this boy's appetite.

The one thing that he isn't doing great yet is sleeping.  We are still up between 1 and 3 times every night with him.  Evie was such a great sleeper as a baby that this is baffling us.  Our engineering minds want to solve this problem, finding some repeatable pattern when we have a good night (was it the pajamas he wore? the blanket? the temperature of the bedroom?!), but it is random.  Noah legitimately seems hungry when he wakes up, so sleep training doesn't feel like the right answer yet.  We will just whine about it for now!  Good thing he's cute.

As a family, after 4 months, the stress of the adjustment to two kids is fading.  We are able to get out more, and we had one of the most perfect Vermont weather weekends I can remember.  It was near-peak foliage with beautiful sun and temperatures around 80.  The leaves always look brighter on a sunny, blue-sky day, and they were vibrant over the weekend.  We crammed a lot of fun things into the weekend, including a hike and fishing at Indian Brook, cidering with friends, a foliage drive, maple creemees, a visit to the park, and a visit with the wonderful Great Aunt Mary (Grandpa Hank's sister).

Evie has been very into taking pictures lately with Noah, and here are a few "outtakes" of the two of them.  It's so fun to watch the sibling relationship forming, even though Noah is a little overwhelmed by his big sis sometimes!
