What's on our minds this week? Sleep training. I know there are lots of people who disagree with sleep training, but we know we need our sleep in order to be decent humans in this family! Noah has been getting up more and more frequently during the night, and when he got to the point of waking up to eat every two hours, we decided something needed to change. I referred back to our Dr. Ferber "Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems" book that we used with Evie, and there is a chapter titled "Feedings During the Night: Another Major Cause of Trouble." Yes! The best part of this book for me is that it provides a concrete plan to fix the sleep problems. For our situation, we've been trying to wait 30 minutes longer in between each nighttime feeding. So, we had to go 2.5 hours in between feedings the first night, 3 hours the next, etc. The first couple nights were easy, and night #3 was a little harder. Even so, there was only one time when he fussed for 5 minutes or so before falling back to sleep. Dr. Ferber says this training usually resolves the problem within a week, so I have hope that we'll be feeling a little more rested soon.
As a side note, I know Noah must be tired, because he has been expending a lot of energy log rolling all over the living room! He's become something of a human lint roller, because between the dog hair and all the hair I'm shedding every day, our carpet doesn't stay clean for long.

Fall is settling in, and we've had a few cool and rainy days, but that doesn't stop Evie from going out to play! It has, however, encouraged me to start drinking coffee again.

Evie has also been enjoying Noah more and more, especially as she realizes she can make him laugh. Her non-stop singing is enough to entertain us both!
