Big sis and little bro

This fall has been a dream.  We had another couple of days in the 70's last week and made sure to get outside and enjoy some time at the park and at the dog park!

Evie loves running around at the dog park just as much as Roscoe does!

We brought dinner to our friends who just had a baby, and I had to take a picture of Noah next to baby Anneliese to show how enormous he is.  His head is like a giant cube!  Granted, he's got a few months on her, but she is so petite and delicate looking next to him.

We also had a belated September b-days celebration, complete with margaritas and cake.  YUM!

Evie has been going back and forth between seeming amazingly grown up and helpful and then wanting to be treated like a baby.  Not in an annoying baby way, but she suddenly wants to eat her meals in Noah's high chair, and she asked if she could have a "can of sweet potatoes" like Noah was having for dinner (aka, baby food).  I decided it was fine, because there were worse things she could eat, and she LOVED it.  Well, that was a bit of a parenting backfire, because she wants to have "cans" of baby food all the time now.  Oops!

 We are finally making some headway with the sleep training/night weaning.  Noah will now go for 5+ hours in between feedings at night, and he is pretty easily soothed if he wakes up at non-feeding times.  We are working to stretch the duration a little further, but it is clear that his frequent wakings were much more habitual than hunger-related.  It feels fabulous to be getting a little more sleep!  He's also falling into a little more regular napping pattern.  We never know how long the naps will last, but at least the early afternoon one usually coincides with Evie's nap and I'll often get a refreshing 30 minutes to myself in the middle of the day.

Here's a typical Noah day:
8:00 am  - wake up and nurse
9:30 am  - nurse and nap
10:30 am - wake up
11:30 am - nurse
1:30 pm - nurse and nap
3:00ish - wake up and nurse
5:00 pm - nurse
6:00 pm - eat some solid food
7:30 pm - change into PJ's, read books, nurse
8:00 pm - bed
1:00 am - nurse and go right back to sleep
4:30 am - wake and soothe back to sleep with Daddy's help

Over the weekend, I was feeling so content with the fact that I get to be home with my kids all the time, snuggling chubby cheeks and giving kisses.  My sigh of relief was short-lived, because we found out yesterday morning that Global Foundries is taking over the business division that Matt works for at IBM.  At this point, we don't know what that means for his job, although the word is that there aren't any expected job cuts as a result.  We hope that this will bring a brighter future for everyone involved, but darn it all, I don't like change!  :-)
