Last week was the big transition back to school, and it went pretty well. There's always a sense of still having one foot in summer during that first week, and we continued to deny the end of summer by swimming after school and hitting the Champlain Valley Fair on carload day Wednesday. I'm not sure if the mid-week fair trip was our smartest move to help with the new routine, but it sure was fun! We were all very tired by the time Friday rolled around.

Both kids seem happy so far at school. Evie's got the same team of teachers, who she loves, and she is with many of her friends in her homeroom and her classes during the day. Noah is adjusting to his new teacher and new classmates. He is excited for the 3D printer in his classroom, a new art teacher at his school this year, and he is also looking forward to joining the school band and playing...DRUMS! (No surprise there!).
Even though it was a long 5-day week, we didn't have any afterschool activities last week, so that made the adjustment a little easier on us. This week, things are going to get a little busier, and the rest of the activities will start up next week. Evie will be doing Irish Dance, orchestra, band, NJHS and private violin lessons. Noah will be doing band, fall baseball, and a travel basketball team. It's going to be busy, but we love seeing the kids engaged in what they love to do!

The holiday weekend was a nice treat, and we enjoyed a King Me gig at Cider Lab, as well as another trip to the fair to see the Pentatonix. They are such talented musicians, and they put on an awesome show. We ate more fair food, the kids did some more rides, and we got absolutely drenched in a rain storm. Luckily, they were giving away free ponchos at the WCAX booth, and I had to embrace the full "fair mom" vibe in my ridiculous red poncho.
