Road Tripping

It's been a couple weeks since the last blog post, and a lot has happened!  The week before break, Evie had Fine Arts night, where we heard her play flute and violin, and one of her sculptures from art was also featured in the art exhibit.  Matt caught his first trout of the season, and we worked hard on creating Evie's costume for her Irish dance show of Peter Pan (she is going to be Nana the dog, as well as a pirate).  Noah started Little League practice, and can't wait for the first game this weekend!

For the kids' spring break week, we embarked on a road trip.  I am not a huge fan of road trips, but we had a lot of fun stops along the way to make it a little more exciting.  We first headed to CT where we got to see two sets of friends, and Evie had a dance competition.  She did well among a tough group of competitors, and was excited to earn 1st place in one of her dances!  From CT we headed to PA to visit Aunt Boo Boo, Uncle Will, Leia and Oli.  It was a long day in the car, but we made a couple pit stops for some shopping, most notably at the largest Cabela's store in the world!  Matt was in his glory, and it was actually a pretty fun stop for the whole family.  We were shocked that there was an aquarium section in the store with tons of live fish!

Our visit with family in PA started out great...until 3 out of 4 of us were struck down with a stomach bug!  Thankfully we had our own bedroom and bathroom, so we were able to keep our germs to ourselves and no one else got sick.  The cousins were all so cute together, and I wish we could have appreciated more of Kristine and Will's amazing cooking while we were there, but everyone made the most of the circumstances!  On Thursday, we made the 9 hour trek home, still feeling a little washed out, but ready to get back to our own beds.  Frankie was very happy to see us when we got home!  The final few days of break were low-key, which was a nice recovery time after all the traveling.  We biked, went to the movies, and Noah has been working on perfecting his Mandalorian costume!

Unfortunately, during break, I also found out that my current job has come to an end.  It's been a perfect role for the past 3 years, with flexibility an a part-time schedule that fit well.  Hopefully a new opportunity will arise, but for now, I'll appreciate having a little extra time in my schedule for the busy month of May with birthdays, the Irish Dance Peter Pan show, Mother's Day, Little League, Confirmation, and more!
