Bike Week

The exciting news last week was about BIKES!  Matt and I picked up our new bikes at REI, and Noah picked up his newly-refurbished bike, courtesy of cousin Elliot (we are thankful for his summer job as a bike mechanic!).  We went for a bike ride with friends, and did a couple family bike rides around the neighborhood, and we are looking forward to getting out to try some mountain biking all together soon.  It has been about 30 years since Matt or I have had a brand-new bike, so this feels like quite a splurge, but we are excited for the family fun to come!  A big milestone - Evie and her friend Lottie took a bike ride over to Sweet Scoops without any adult supervision.  They rather enjoyed their freedom, I think!

The other big event of the week was the Vermont Maple Feis, which was an Irish Dance competition hosted here in VT by Evie's dance school.  We volunteered to help with setup, during the event, and with the cleanup, in addition to Evie competing at the Feis.  It was tiring work, but it was also really fun to be a part of such a great event!  For Evie, this was her first competition at the Prizewinner level, so we tried to prepare her to be okay even if she didn't win any medals.  She reminded us that she likes to dance "because it's fun even if I don't win!"  She danced well, and earned a 2nd place and 3rd place medal, which was a great surprise!

Awards table!

Noah and Matt worked really hard to lay the dance flooring

Ready to dance!

We all needed to chug some maple syrup by the end!

Cutest prizes ever!

We wrapped up the weekend with a neighborhood BBQ, complete with mini golf, corn hole, swimming, and a live band.  We are so lucky to live in such a nice neighborhood!

Other moments of summer fun included pickleball, ice cream with friends, skateboarding, and of course, more pool ball for Frankie!

This was actually a biking outing...but we couldn't resist a stop for ice cream!

Trying out the Williston skate park

Pickleball injury #1 - a ball to the face, courtesy of Matt!

Pickleball injury #2 - a ball to the hand, as I shielded my face from a second assault!

Evie's favorite lunch - Ramen!

More ice cream!
