Celebrate, Celebrate!

We have been busy celebrating our 7-year-old girl!  How did this happen so quickly, and how have we been so blessed to be her parents?  The emotions caught me off guard, and I had to have a good cry about how my first baby is so big now.  Seven seems like such a grown-up age, but day-to-day, it's also a wonderful age.  Evie is curious, sensitive, caring, determined, and she's a girl who loves to wear dresses, but also loves to go outside and dig in the garden.  She can do so many things now, yet she still loves her mama, and she is my best sidekick for biking, swimming, and baking in the kitchen.  She is a great reader, and her free time is most often spent playing school, writing books, and doing crafts (when she isn't outside!).

This cake was a labor of love.  Two hours of piping frosting was pretty intense!

We celebrated with popsicles for Evie's 1st Grade class, we went out to dinner as our little family of four, we had a family party on Friday, and then we had a party for her friends at the movies on Saturday.  Lots of fun and lots of laughs!
Her favorite gift was the Costco-sized pack of Sharpies!

Deep fried fiddleheads

A very special gift from Nana Mil

Party time at the movies!

We had a couple of memorable moments during Evie's family party - first, we decided to re-enact a picture from the day we brought her home from the hospital 7 years ago.  And then, all 5 kids decided to put on a fashion show for us using all the dress-up gear they could find in our playroom.  Words cannot describe how funny they were!

Noah's name for the show was "Princess Tutti Fruitti!"
It seemed fitting that I celebrated the sweet girl who made me a mother right before Mother's Day.  My Mother's Day was lovely, and I had a chance to relax, eat some great food, and celebrate with some of the special moms and grandmas in our lives (somehow I never took a photo with my own mother?!).  My heart is full!
