First Birthday Festivities

Noah's First Birthday was a great success, and as expected, he devoured his cake.  We had a quiet morning, he opened a few gifts from us and Evie, then we all went to the pool at lunch time.  We spent the afternoon getting stuff ready for the party, then had our families over to celebrate with pizza and cake.  Noah seemed happy with the day (typical Noah!), and he really loved having everyone sing "happy birthday" to him!  Evie was happy to be the gift helper.  Since Noah wasn't all that interested in opening his gifts, she got to open most of the presents, and he just wanted to eat the wrapping paper.

Birthday at the pool

5/27/15 was a more relaxing day than 5/27/14
He knows just what to do with presents!

Pizza crust - the favorite dinner of 1-yr-olds!

And here is the awesome slideshow that Matt put together with photos from Noah's first year:

And, here's the weekly/monthly time-lapse version of Noah from Day 1 to Day 365!

Both kids had their checkups at the doctor this past week, and we had to chuckle that Evie is only 10 pounds heavier than Noah despite being three years older!  Both kids are healthy and bravely made it through their vaccinations (Well, actually, Noah screamed pretty loud and another nurse came in to see if everything was okay.  But Evie was super brave!).   We had a good chance to talk with Dr. Hale about the challenging limit-testing behavior we've been seeing with Evie, and he reassured us that at this age, you can be completely consistent with discipline and may not see a change in behavior for a couple of months.  Yes, MONTHS.  Looks like Mommy will be continuing to need her evening happy hour to get through this phase.

Chalkboard walls are super fun at the doctor's office
Vision test

4 years old!

Here are their growth stats:

Evie
Height: 41.25 inches (79%)
Weight: 33.5 lbs (36%)
Highlights: passed vision and hearing tests, and she impressed Dr. Hale with all the foods that she likes to eat!

Noah
Height: 31 inches (85%)
Weight: 23 lbs. 14.5 oz (67%)
Highlights: Growing well, he will probably start walking before long (estimated 3 months after crawling), and Dr. Hale was happy with his verbal skills since a lot of boys have no words yet at 1 year old.

Here's the rest of our week in photos:
Evie spent an hour at work with Daddy - clearly a productive morning
Trike-a-thon fundraiser at school
Princess dress and garden boots.  This sums up Evie!

Setting new records for drool length
Fake napping.  Oh, how I miss the real thing!

We are now suffering from the birthday hangover.  Evie is sick, Noah is sick or teething, and Matt and I aren't getting much sleep as a result.  Here's hoping we all regain our equilibrium soon!
