Good news! The basement egress window is done! Our basement playroom project is finally progressing again, and we are so excited with the results. Even though the egress issue was an unexpected bump in the process, it is going to make the playroom so much brighter, and of course, safer! Here are some photos of the process, with the finished product in the lower left corner.
While the window was being installed, Evie and I escaped to my parents' house. We did lots of fun things with Grandma Betti, and now every morning when she wakes up, Evie asks if we're going to Grandma Betti's house!

After the egress window was done, we decided we should go out to celebrate! We were also celebrating 14 years since Matt and I had started dating. Perfect weather, great food, and Ben & Jerry's to end the evening. It doesn't get any better than that!
Don't worry...Roscoe got some special treats too!
We have had the most beautiful stretch of summer-like weather, so we crammed as many fun activities as we could into one weekend. First, we went to touch-a-truck, and after getting used to the loud honking horns, Evelyn had lots of fun. Her favorites were the school bus and the trash truck!

We also went out hiking and foraging for fiddleheads, and Evelyn would have stayed there all day throwing stones in the brook if we let her. She's definitely an outdoor girl!

Then we went to a fancy Kentucky Derby party, where Evie promptly found the playground after the race!
...and now we begin looking forward to Evelyn's 2nd birthday on Friday! We are planning to ring in the occasion with pizza and oreo cake and a family party. Evelyn keeps asking us to "talk about it again", and tell her about all the details of her party. We can't wait to celebrate with our sweet girl!
She opened her first b-day gift on Sunday, and she's looking like such a big girl with her new backpack (thanks Donna!).
