Happy 2012!!

Happy New Year!  We had a great week of vacation last week, and we got to see many friends during our time off.  It's funny, we always have these grand plans for things that we'll get done when we're on vacation, but alas, we need the time to NOT get things done!  

This is how we all felt after Christmas #3!

 We finally got a little snow, and we took Evie out in her new sleigh.  It was pretty chilly that day (only in the teens), so we bundled her up and had a good time.  We may have gone a little overboard with the bundling...

It was surprisingly easy to pull the sled, and even though Evie screamed when we first put her snow suit on, she was happy once we were moving.  She even fell asleep before we made it back to the car!

We had a chance to try out some of Evie's other Christmas gifts, too.  She got a shopping cart liner, so we finally put her in the top of the grocery cart.  She thought she was hot stuff in her new pink coat, and kept waving to everyone while I shopped!  Waving is one of her new skills, as is high-fiving people.  Her other new "trick" is sticking her tongue out like she's catching snowflakes, as you can see in the photo below.  We're not sure where it came from, but she does it all the time right now and it really makes us laugh!

In other milestones, Evie is not crawling yet, although some of her baby friends are beginning to!  She can go backward, but that just frustrates her because she gets further from whatever toy she's trying to reach.  She loves standing up (with our help) and pulling herself up on us, so I'm beginning to wonder if she'll go straight to walking.  SCARY!

A little blurry, but waving

Evie eats like a horse.  She's still nursing, but she also loves her solid foods.  She is a social eater, too, because if she sees us eating, she wants to join in!  She can pick up puffs and Cheerios and feed herself, and she loves these rice things called Mum Mums.  We give her rice cereal, and various fruits and veggies, and this week she tried yogurt for the first time.  It was a big hit, and I was relieved that it didn't bother her tummy.

We call this the "prune-a-brow" - she smeared prunes on her face making a unibrow!

Evelyn's hair is continuing to grow and get in her eyes, so I thought it might be time for a ponytail.  Maybe it's still a bit soon.  Matt thinks she looks like a unicorn!

Here's a typical evening after Evie has gone to bed.  I'm eating sorbet, and Roscoe is doing his best impression of Clifford the Big Red Dog.  His mooching has gotten BAD!!
