All ready for the cold weather in her snuggly bear suit!
Happy November! This is actually my least favorite month of the whole
year, because it tends to be dark, gray and cold here in Vermont. My
perspective has changed on many things since having Evie, so hopefully
she'll help me enjoy the month of November a little bit, too!

Play date with Caroline
Last week, we had a play date with our Essex High School girls, which was awesome. I feel so lucky to have some other mom friends that are at the same stage as us! It's amazing how helpful it can be to chat with other moms. We also went to a Halloween event over the weekend at Shelburne Museum with one of Evelyn's friends from our childbirth class. While Evie was a little young for the event, she loved looking around at all the kids in their costumes, and we enjoyed reconnecting with the other parents. It'll be a fun thing to go back to in future years when Evie is bigger!

Evelyn has been fighting her first cold for the past several days,
and she's generously shared it with me and Matt! I feel like we're
embarking on this new phase of our lives where we get sick from our
kid...well, at least she didn't start with a stomach bug! I cannot tell you how awful it is to see your own kid be sick. I hate it. The poor girl can't breathe through her nose, yet she still looks up at me with her gummy grin and lights up my day. Despite the sickness, sleep is continuing to go well at night (11 to 12 hours). Naps are not quite as consistent, but we usually get at least one long nap during the day, which is a huge improvement.

Visiting with Grandpa
We celebrated Evelyn's first Halloween last night, and she was dressed up as a kitten (a very adorable kitten, if I do say so). She loved hanging out with her cousins, and she even went out trick-or-treating and brought home some candy! Matt tells me that all the neighbors were "smitten with our kitten!" Halloween was so much more fun this year having our own kid to dress up, and it's getting us excited to spend our first Christmas with Evelyn this year. Believe it or not, we've already bought our sweet girl a few gifts!

Caroline made the blog! Yay! :) Love seeing you guys! :)
ReplyDeleteLove reading the updates Erin and Matt! Evie looks so cute in her cat costume! Shawn's nephew was a monkey for Halloween. I'm not so sure he was diggin' the hood though. Hope you're all doing well and that everybody gets over their colds!

Great pictures of the the Halloween cousins!
ReplyDeleteCutest kitty outfit! I'm sure everyone was "smitten with your kitten"! And I love the little tutu! What a fun first Halloween! The little bear suit looks very warm! Should really come in handy in Vermont.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you are able to find some joy in November. I know it can be a gloomy month. My birthday is this month and it is almost always a rainy day. Now instead of it getting me down, I usually find comfort in it.
So cute! you guys are so awesome - and what fun it looks like you had! And, by the way Erin, November although dark and bleak does give you many warm things, like me! :) Becca
