Evelyn's first week and a half

We have now been home with Evelyn for about a week and a half.  We are so smitten with her!  She is a really good baby so far, and she pretty much cries when she's hungry or needs a fresh diaper and is sleeping or content the majority of the time.  She's had a couple of fussy periods, but the doctor told us that it was probably her first growth spurt.  We're getting pretty good sleep, in 2-3 hour blocks, and one night she even went for nearly 5 hours!  We're still pretty tired, but one look at her makes it all worthwhile.  We have our next visit with the pediatrician today, so we're excited to see how much she has grown (she's certainly eaten enough to be growing!!).

Matt has been home from work since Evelyn was born, so that has made the transition into parenthood easier for us.  He'll start working part-time next week to help me ease into being on my own with Evelyn.  We have made it out of the house a few times already - we even made it to church on Sunday!  It was great to see all of our friends there and introduce them to Evelyn.  We've gotten out for walks nearly every day, and we also had a photographer come to our house and take some beautiful newborn photos on Saturday.  It was pretty funny, because Evelyn peed and pooped on all of the backdrops, and on me and Matt!  I guess those are the perils of doing newborn photos without a diaper on!  Here's a link to the photos: BirdieLou Photos of Evelyn

We are incredibly grateful for all the help we've had from family and friends so far.  We've had lots of meals delivered, as well as people running errands for us (the meal train link is on the right-hand side of the page, and we will always accept more meals!!).  It has allowed us some awesome family time to hang out and snuggle our little bundle of joy.  We've also enjoyed having so many visitors come over and meet Evelyn!  Here are some photos from the past week:
