Today, Evelyn is 2 weeks old! It has seemed like both the longest and fastest 2 weeks of our lives. Evelyn has been a great baby so far, although we have our moments of frustration when she cries and we can't figure out what she needs. Fortunately, that seems to be balanced out by some longer stretches of sleep, nice walks with Evelyn in the stroller, and some very cute awake time when she takes in the world around her. Last night, we were blessed with the longest stretch of sleep we've had since she was born - 6 hours! After Evelyn ate, we got another 4 hours. That makes up for the previous nights when we'd get 3 hours, then be awoken every hour until morning!
Matt started working part-time again this week, so yesterday, I had a fun time getting out of the house with Evelyn on my own for the first time. We met our friends Megan and Caroline (a baby 3 days older than Evelyn) to walk around downtown, and the babies (and moms) all did great. It felt good to get out of the house and have a little social time!
Evelyn had her second visit at the pediatrician on Friday, and they were very happy with her growth. She gained 13 ounces in a week, and she's back up past her birth weight, at 7 lbs. 14 oz., which put her in the 50th percentile for weight. She had grown 1.5 inches since birth, so her height is actually in the 90th percentile, and her head circumference is in the 75th percentile. The pediatrician gave us the go-ahead to start using a pacifier since breastfeeding is going well, so that has given us a few moments of peace when we can't seem to soothe our little one. She also lost her belly button on Sunday, so we gave her her first bath that day. She didn't like it very much, and she ended up pooping in her little tub! YUCK! (Matt got to clean that mess).
