Frozen

It was another cold week in January...the month that seems to go on forever!  It felt like the week consisted of a lot of driving to/from basketball practices and kid events, with that sense of being busy but not accomplishing much.  BUT, we noticed for the first time yesterday morning that there was a little more daylight when we headed out for the bus.  And it's light until 5pm now.  We're celebrating those small victories at this time of year!  Matt and Evie enjoyed a cozy happy hour in the igloo, but I opted for indoor coziness.

We were drawn out of the house for Evie's first orchestra concert of the year last week.  She is enjoying violin more this year, working hard with her private lessons, and she is also looking forward to participating in the District Music Festival later this week.

The weekend was a welcome break from the January doldrums, with a trip to NH for an Irish Dance Feis.  We have been doing this trip every year for the past few years, and we make a weekend of outlet shopping, visiting the Portsmouth Drum Center, and attending the competition.  Evie didn't have quite the results she was hoping for at this competition, but she had a positive attitude about it, and knows that this is a rebuilding time of year for dance.  The nicest part is that the girls are all so supportive to one another backstage, and Evie really enjoys being there with all the other dancers regardless of the result!

Classic stop at the NH rest area...the kids still humor us with these silly photos!

Noah and Daddy are very happy!

Noah was in his glory at the drum store

The Lindt Chocolate store is always a favorite stop!

Good job Evie!
