The Fair and The First Day(s)!

We survived the big transition back to school last week!  But first, we chased away our end-of-summer blues with a trip to the Fair.  We love to do that on the last day of summer, because it keeps everyone busy and having fun, and not worrying about the return to school.  We saw the animals, exhibits, rode a ton of rides, and ate way more junk food than we should have!  Noah was especially thrilled to win a giant Yoshi from one of the carnival games!

The next morning, the kids woke up ready to go for their first day of school.  It felt a little different this year since Evie is on a later bus than Noah, but we will adjust.  Both kids clicked with their teachers right away, and we are feeling optimistic that it will be a good year.  Noah had an awesome first day, and Evie's was "just okay" due to some friend challenges.  We are hopeful that things will all settle into place for her as they get into routine.

Against our better judgement, we returned to the fair TWO more times later in the week!  Once for the demolition derby, and then for a Friday evening trip to enjoy the nighttime lights and rides.  The kids had a blast, and it was a fun way to celebrate the first week of school, but the exhaustion hit hard the next day.

Demo Derby!

Chicken on a stick

Flaming Hot Cheetos corn dog....sounded interesting, but it was BAD.  We each had a bite before throwing it away!

Nervous to go on The Claw!

We ran into cousin Colby at the fair! So fun!

Beautiful summer weather finally rolled in for the holiday weekend, so we spent as much time outside as we could.  We biked on the causeway, had a bonfire at Aunt Pea's, went swimming, and hiked at Indian Brook.  Evie was lucky enough to enjoy a day at the lake for her friend's birthday party.  It was a perfect low-key weekend to recharge before the next school week!

Noah's new bike shelf in the garage.  He's very excited!

The Causeway - beautiful scenery on both sides!
