Summer's Revenge

I should have quoted Evie back in August when we were swimming at camp and it was 64 degrees and cloudy, but her general sentiment was, "I'm going to be so mad if it gets nice as soon as we go back to school!"  Lo and behold, that was the story of last week.  We had our first official heat wave of the summer, reaching 90 degrees for three days in a row with blue skies and sunshine.  It was tough for the kids and teachers at school, and it didn't help us get back into the school routine, either!  We enjoyed the bonus pool time and ice cream dates as soon as the kids got home every day, but it felt like we were yo-yoing between school mode and summer mode.

Still feeling like summer

Last day of Village Scoop for this season!

There were also a lot of causes for celebration last week!  We celebrated my birthday, Grandpa Tom's 45th anniversary at IBM, and had a blast at the 15th annual family party at Aunt Pea's.  By the time we reached Sunday, we all needed a nap (literally!).  This week is the first full 5-day week of school, and we are hoping to get into a better routine with dinner, bedtimes, and being able to wake up for that early alarm in the morning!

I requested a fly-fishing date with Matt for my bday!

The river was nice and cool on a hot day

But, these are the only fish we saw!
