Birthday Month has arrived!

Last week was kind of a bust around here.  Matt and Noah were sick earlier in the week, and by the time they were feeling better, it was too cold to go out!  Poor Noah ended up with an ear infection at the end of his cold, so he had an even longer recovery.  Then the kids had a "cold day" off from school on Friday, since the wind chills were between -20 and -40 all day.  Brrrrr!

Yup, that's a -21 outdoor temp (felt like -42 at the coldest!)

Ice formed on the inside of our windows!

Ready to brave the elements!

Sleepy sick days

Girl Scout Cookies helped us get through the cold days! We'll be delivering this week!

We rarely play video games, but subzero weather called for desperate measures!

We attempted to get Frankie out for some good exercise before the cold weather hit, and she got to try out her new K9 Top Coat for the snow!  (Go ahead and laugh - it's pretty ridiculous).  Frankie's fur gets so covered in snowballs in the winter that we felt like this was worth a try.  It can also be used to keep mud and ticks off, so hopefully it solves a couple of the challenges with her fluffy fur!

First run in the new blue suit!

Twinning with Dad

I'm not sure if Frankie hates the bows or the blue suit more!

Thankfully, everyone was feeling better by the end of the week in time to celebrate some birthdays!  Matt's birthday was Friday, and we stuck close to home until dinner time.  The wind was SO cold that it felt like thousands of tiny needles were being poked into any skin that wasn't completely covered up.  It was worth going out for the delicious Italian dinner at Jr's, games and fun at the arcade, before coming home for gifts and homemade cherry pie.  Evie also made a batch of cookies as a bonus birthday treat for Daddy!

A special birthday delivery!

YUMMY Chicken Parm!

Happy Birthday Daddy!!

We finally have our own copy of our new favorite game!

Birthday pie

We had to end the evening with some Klask!

Saturday was another bitter cold day, but cabin fever was setting in, so we ventured out to the library to at least get out of the house.  We had our next birthday celebration that evening with dinner at Papa Frank's for Aunt Pea's 50th birthday!  Matt and Aunt Pea's birthday festivities continued on Sunday with a family gathering with lots of delicious food and gifts.  It was a full weekend of celebrating two of our very favorite people!
