The highlight of last week was the weekend! (Ha ha...I'm sure that sentiment is true for many). We traveled to New Hampshire for an Irish dance competition for Evie in Exeter, NH. We hadn't been to this part of the state before, and the boys were thrilled that we'd be near the Drum Center of Portsmouth, aka "The Largest Drum Store in the World." Even as a non-drummer, I have to admit it was pretty impressive, at least for the first 30 minutes we were there. :-) After the boys had had their fill of shopping, we headed to Kittery, Maine to check out a few more stores before settling into our hotel. Evie didn't dance until Sunday afternoon, so we found a church to go to on Sunday morning and then took a little trip to see the ocean. It was a great idea in concept, but the January wind coming off the ocean was almost unbearable. We did a quick walk, collected some shells, then sprinted back to the car with watering eyes and running noses!

We had a little bit of down time, then headed to Evie's competition. She danced really well, and our hope at these competitions is always that she has fun and feels like she did her best. When she saw the results, she was thrilled to find out that she placed 1st in two dances and 2nd in two other dances. Yay Evie! Adding to the excitement, her bonus aunt and cousins came from MA to watch. We all had a fun dinner together afterward to celebrate.
Aside from the weekend fun, we have been staying busy with basketball, Girl Scouts, and catching up with friends and family. The kids have been playing lots of Tech Deck (mini skateboards) and music in their free time, since we haven't had much snow for outdoor fun. We ended our week with a lovely Christmas celebration with Grandma Karen, as well!
