It was back to routine for all of us last week after a lovely Christmas break. It was a struggle to get up early and re-acclimate to the busy schedule of school, exercise, work, dance, basketball, etc. We usually wake up around 6:30am, and it is completely dark out. By the time we leave for the bus at 7:10, it's a little bit light out, but sunrise is not until 7:30. We clawed our way through the week and celebrated with Noah's basketball game and pizza on Friday night.
Saturday was coined "the saddest day of the year" by Noah, because we took down all our Christmas decorations. It wasn't quite that bad, but felt like a lot of work!
We tried our best to keep the week low-key, and to do a few fun things to help lift our moods. Matt went to open mic night with a few guys from his band, Noah was surprised with an awesome box of hand-me-downs from his cousin (including a Celtics jersey!), and Evie made up a fun trivia game for us all to enjoy. We also have a new window-mounted bird feeder, so we have all enjoyed watching the birds come visit. So far we've seen lots of black-capped chickadees and a beautiful pair of cardinals...and a lot of squirrels who have tried every angle to get to the feeder!

The other mood-booster for the week is that we scheduled a family vacation for the February school break to Florida. While we haven't had a very snowy winter, it has still been gray and blah, and we are excited for some sunshine and fun!
