May...mayhem?

May is finally here!  Spring activities are in full swing starting this week - two nights of Little League, two days of Girls on the Run, and two nights of Irish Dance per week.  Add in a few milestone events, like Noah's upcoming First Communion on Saturday, Mother's Day on Sunday, school concerts, and both kids' birthdays in May, and our brains are on overload.  I can't even figure out how to fit dinner into the schedule most nights!  But the kids are really excited, and it's going to be a fun, busy season.  If you don't hear from us until June, don't take it personally!  :-)

Noah is so proud of his uniform.  He was dressed in it at 7am Saturday morning for the 12:00 parade, wore it all day, and he tried to put his uniform BACK on after showering on Saturday night!  

I have been thinking about how different the busyness of parenting is now versus when the kids were younger.  Those toddler days were busy with constant play, snacks and diaper changes, but the schedule was usually pretty straightforward.  Now, the days are quiet, but the afternoons and evenings remind us that we are still very much needed as parents.  We have become experts at divide-and-conquer to get both kids where they need to be!  On Evie's busy days, our "together" time is in the car, going from one activity to another, but we have been listening to an audiobook together and making the most of that time we have.  Noah gets to come home and have a little free time before his activities, and I love seeing his creativity at work on those afternoons.

We were excited to have a beautiful weekend of weather to recharge after a busy week.  The Little League opening parade was on Saturday, and then on Sunday, we played outside with neighbors and made sure there was time for a bike ride to get ice cream!
