Harry Potter Hangover

Evie and Matt finished the last Harry Potter book a few weeks ago, and we finally found time for the Harry Potter Movie Marathon over the weekend.  The last movie is so long that it's actually split into two movies, so Evie and Aunt Pea had decided that this movie night needed to include a sleepover.  It turned out to be the perfect thing to look forward to after a long cold week.  Aunt Pea and Colby came over, and we hunkered in on Friday night at our house.  We got Thai food takeout, made popcorn, ate a bunch of candy, and stayed up waaaaaaaaay too late watching the first movie.  We woke up Saturday morning and we were spoiled with homemade crepes made by Evie and Aunt Pea.  The wind chill was still about -20, so we had a nice cozy day watching the second movie, painting nails and hanging out.  Noah and Colby put on a fashion show for our afternoon entertainment!  We had such a fun time, and it felt like a little vacation from reality!  Matt and Evie are now suffering from "Harry Potter Hangover," feeling a little gloomy and aimless after getting to the end of the series.  The good news is that Noah has started on Book 1, so we will get to do it all over again!

Chocolate drizzled popcorn for movie night

Last week was bitter cold, so we had a few family reading nights at home (cozy!), after-dinner Nerf gun battles, and cooked lots of homemade soup.  It was too cold to do much of anything outside, so we were grateful for Irish dance and basketball to use up some energy!  We aren't sad to say goodbye to a very long January, and welcome to February!

Loving the fireplace on these cold days

Everyone on the big bed for family reading night

Resting up for the big Nerf battle (notice the ankles loaded with backup bullets!)

Cold dry weather = bloody noses.  Noah was very excited that the school nurse gave him some cotton rolls to take home, because now he looks like a football player!
This loaf of bread was the size of a baby...we needed it to go with all the soup!  Ha ha!

Noah is loving basketball, and learning so much!

Frozen bubbles for the 2nd week in a row!

Frankie alternated between puppy play dates and napping.  She did sneak out the door one day and sat on the front walk staring at us, as if to ask, "Why haven't we been going for walks?!"  If we all had a coat like Frankie, this weather would be no problem!

Finally starting to warm up.  We have missed the outdoors!
