Halloween, the 2020 edition

The big event of the past week was Halloween.  The kids were very excited (as always!), and we had to get creative as we considered how to make sure we were safe while handing out candy and going trick-or-treating.  We began the festivities on Friday evening with an outdoor candy hunt and bonfire with a few friends.  The kids loved looking all around our friends' barn for candy, trading, and then they performed a talent show for the parents.  It was a great evening!

Halloween festivities on Saturday included pumpkin carving, assembling candy bags for trick-or-treaters, and trying to keep the kids occupied until it was dark enough for trick-or-treating.  We were impressed with all the neighbors who found creative ways to celebrate, decorate, and keep the tradition alive for the kids, but it was noticeably less social as everyone kept a safe distance with masks on.  I'm not sure the kids noticed - in fact, I think they were happy that we were able to cover so much ground, because we weren't stopping to chat at every house!  We rounded out the evening with an extra hour of sleep, thanks to daylight savings time, and shockingly, we all slept in on Sunday AM.

Evie's costume was an illuminated jellyfish, which she made herself.  I helped her get all the supplies and plan it out, but she used the hot glue gun to assemble the finished product on her own.  Noah dressed up as a pirate skeleton, and he was very excited for his costume.  Frankie was a frankfurter, and I consider it a victory that she wore the costume and didn't treat it like a chew toy!

Frankie continues to occupy our camera roll with her cute napping positions, and her big news is that she has started losing her puppy teeth!  Our snuggly girl is growing up fast - at her vet appointment last week, she weighed in at 20 lbs!

We continue to keep our eyes on the growing Covid case numbers in VT (and elsewhere) as the weather gets colder and we spend more time inside.  Our prayers are especially with the St. Michael's College community as they try to get an outbreak on campus under control.
