I'm not sure where to begin as I review all that has happened during this incredible past week. The most notable is the historic presidential election that had us glued to CNN for days on end. We are excited and hopeful for this new beginning for our country, and we are glad to have leaders that will be role models for our children. We let the kids stay up on Saturday night to watch Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' emotional and inspiring victory speeches, and it really felt like we were living through an important moment in history. Evie has these great books called Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls that feature biographies of inspiring women in history, and we both agreed that Kamala Harris should be featured in the next book!
To add to the incredibleness of the week, we went from Winter to Summer in the course of a couple days. It snowed on Tuesday, and then the weather switched to several days of 70 degrees and sunny, and the sunsets have been gorgeous. What a gift to lift our spirits and aid in our celebratory mood! One special way we enjoyed the weather was a walk out on the Causeway on Lake Champlain. The water is really shallow on one side, so we were able to walk in the sand and water, and Frankie ran free (and came back whenever we called!). Since we can't travel much right now, we appreciated this momentary getaway to the sun and sand.
On the more day-to-day stuff, Noah is currently obsessed with playing Yahtzee. We have played many, many games of it, which I love, too! His other favorite things include woodworking (or just sawing), and he has been doing a ton of drawing and coloring. Evie is working hard on her Irish Dance and learning violin, and she loves doing all kids of arts and crafts.
Frankie turned 4 months old on Saturday, so we spoiled her with a trip to the pet store for a couple of new toys. She loved it, but she is equally appreciative of snuggle time with her people. Having such an affectionate dog (that can also be trusted off leash) still feels a bit foreign to us after living with Roscoe for so long, but we are really appreciating these qualities about Frankie. Oh, and we have become "those" people...Frankie has her own Instagram account now (@frankie_doodle_vt)!
I have to add this bonus photo of one of our daily realities - masks! They add a little extra laundry, but we are thankful for Grandma's sewing skills so we don't have to do "mask laundry" every day.
