Change is in the air

Even though the start of school is delayed this year, there is still that intangible change in the air that has reminded us that fall is just around the corner.  The weather has been cooler in the evenings, it's getting dark a bit earlier, and the kids have had lots of questions about school.  We found out that our kids will both attend school on Thursday/Friday and do remote learning on the other three days, and we also found out that Evie will have a different teacher than originally planned.  There are still so many unknowns about the school year, but we are trying to remain optimistic and focus on the positives of the hybrid schedule.

We went on a couple of "field trips" last week, breaking out of our normal routine of biking and going to the pool!  The first outing was to Niquette Bay State Park, and we loved it.  There were some great, kid-friendly hiking trails that led us to a cute little beach on Lake Champlain.  The kids and their friends played in the water for hours before we hiked back to the car, and then stopped for ice cream on the way home.

Our second field trip was to Shelburne Museum, which I haven't been to since I was in elementary school.  Most of the buildings were closed due to COVID, but there were a few that we could go in, and the kids had fun walking the grounds and learning about "back in the old days."  It was a long period of wearing masks, but we took lots of breaks and the kids managed it very well.

We also took a family trip to buy all the supplies we will need to welcome our new pup!  Sunday is the big day, and the excitement is building!!

We have had LOTS of orthodontist appointments with Evie, but her smile is already straightening out.  She has been an awesome patient, too!
