We are just returning from what we all referred to as our "Camp Bonus Week" - brought to us by COVID and all the cancelled plans of summer! The trip began as a weekend to celebrate my parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary, because they didn't want a big celebration. Their wish was just to have the family together at camp and enjoy a nice dinner (we missed the Denver contingent!). The weather was beautiful, so we enjoyed the day by fishing, swimming, and floating in the lake, and then had a great dinner and some fabulous desserts. Matt put together some 1970 trivia and a beautiful photo slideshow with lots of memories over the years, and the kids headed up the decorating committee. It was a perfect, relaxing celebration for a very special couple.
We lucked out with gorgeous weather for the entire week at camp - blue skies, warm temperatures, and even the lake water was nearly 80 degrees! The only rain came at night while we were sleeping. All the favorite camp activities were enjoyed, especially fishing, swimming, and beach time, as well as some fun card games at night. Life is simple at camp, and we all appreciated the week to rest and relax together.
The week before we went to camp, Noah had his only formal camp of the summer - Ninja Camp! He had fun, and it gave me confidence that he can handle wearing a mask for a full day when he goes back to school. While Noah was at camp, Evie had the chance to have a few play dates. We have missed having friends over!
We are adjusting back to reality, counting down the days until our new pup comes home (12 more days!), running back and forth to the orthodontist with Evie, and trying to avoid thinking about all the questions we have about the coming school year!
