14 Years

It was another beautiful summer week, which meant lots of swimming and playing outside. We were able to visit with some friends last week, and meet their new labradoodle puppy while the kids had a play date.  It got us all so incredibly excited to meet our new addition at the end of the month!  EEK!
Sweet girls!

These two boys are like little twins!

Millie the puppy has given us serious puppy fever!

We haven't had many exciting weekend plans lately thanks to the pandemic, but last weekend we celebrated our goddaughter's birthday with her, since her family has been in VT for the summer (a COVID silver lining!).  It was an impressive pandemic party - Ben & Jerry's truck, Silly String, a Pinata, swimming and pizza.  Life doesn't get much more fun than that, and seeing the kids all having fun together made for a perfect afternoon!

Evie loved her snuggle time with Patrick!

Last week was our 14th wedding anniversary, and we ventured out to a restaurant for the first time since March (or maybe even February?!).  We went to a safe, outdoor restaurant downtown, and it was lovely, but it definitely felt different.  We found ourselves acutely aware of the logistics of staying safe in a restaurant environment, and Church Street was much quieter than it typically would be during a beautiful summer night.  To add a strange twist to our evening, we witnessed a car accident as we were on our way to dinner, just as we were leaving our neighborhood.  We were stopped at a stop sign as a car came past, hydroplaned, hit a guard rail, spun several times and hit another car and a telephone pole.  Thankfully, everyone was okay, but it was a shaky start to the evening!  After dinner, we had to go to the police station to give our witness report. It seems fitting that this was our anniversary celebration during the unprecedented year 2020!

14th Anniversary!

YUM!

At the police station - awesome date night! HA HA!

The other big event last week was that Evie got her palate expander put in.  I was nervous about how she would handle it, but she has been a champ!  She has a bit of a lisp, and there has been some trial and error to navigate which foods work best, but overall she hasn't been in much discomfort, and she is really good about letting us turn it twice a day.  She has enjoyed the excuse to eat a lot of ice cream and popsicles, and we are happy to join her for moral support!  :-)

Conveniently, there is an ice cream shop across the parking lot from the orthodontist!

That's a big mouthful of hardware

Turning the crank every morning and evening...and yes, we wear a head lamp to see into her mouth!

Here are a few other glimpses of our summer fun.  We are hanging on to these days and appreciating them while they last!
We have been doing a virtual VBS through the church, and this was one of the activities

Noah is pretty excited to be swimming in the deep end this year
