4-day weekend fun

We enjoyed the first break of the school year for Parent-Teacher conferences, which afforded us a 4-day weekend.  Sleeping in (even just until 7:00!) was a luxury, and we had time for play dates, swimming, catching up on projects at home, and a pig roast and brunch with a variety friends!  Monday morning hit hard since it is now dark and colder when we have to get up and going for the day, but I was impressed when Noah made me stop and appreciate the beautiful moon that was still shining in the morning.

Evie made pancakes for us on Saturday all by herself!

Since the pancake project went so well, she also made Lemon Pecan muffins.  She's good!

Conferences for both kids were successful, and we were reminded of how fortunate we are to have such great schools and teachers in our district.  I also had fun volunteering for Four Winds in both Evie and Noah's classrooms last week to study Spiders.  I wasn't very excited about this topic ahead of time, but spiders are actually very interesting creatures once you start learning about them.  A highlight of the Four Winds session was that the principal of Evie's school came in to observe our lesson, and she let the class dress her up like a spider!
Examining real spiders - eek!

Noah had book character dress-up day at his school last week, and he chose Fly Guy, from his current favorite book series.  When he isn't in Fly Guy attire, you are most likely to find Noah dressed as a firefighter or fully outfitted for his single-player football games in the front yard!

Matt and I had a fun evening to ourselves last week when we went to see the talented Chick Corea trio at the Flynn.  I'm not an expert in jazz music, but the talent of this group was amazing!
