It's really feeling like summer here in VT, and we were thankful to spend the recent heat wave at camp on Shadow Lake. It was still very hot there, but we were able to spend our days at the lake, and the cool mountain air made the nights comfortable. Of course, packing for a week of outdoor fun with no internet, cell service, TV, or laundry facilities made us look like we were part of National Lampoon's Summer Vacation.
Since it was so hot at camp, we spent more time swimming than usual, and only managed to have one bonfire and a very little bit of fishing. We squeezed in a couple runs, walks, and bike rides before it got too hot, then enjoyed tons of tubing and beach time every day. One really sweet part of our trip was a new friendship that blossomed between Evie and Ella, our camp neighbor. The two girls were a perfect pair!
Sleep was tricky and bedtimes were late, so cat naps were a necessity! (I won't go into details that led up to my 3-mile "rage walk" because my kids were behaving so badly).
We had one cooler day, when we took the opportunity to visit the Bread and Puppet Museum. People travel from all over to visit this place, yet I have never been there in my 25+ years of vacationing in Glover. It was really interesting to see all the different art, and the kids were surprisingly intrigued!

This next photo deserves its own story. Noah spotted this lumberjack helmet at Currier's Market. He fell in love, because he loves all things that involve firemen/construction workers/tools/hard hats, etc. Matt and I said "No way!", since it was an adult's helmet and priced as such. Grandpa Zeke couldn't stand it, and took Noah back the next morning to get his prized helmet, after making him promise he'd go to bed and be a very, very good boy for mommy and daddy. Grandpa sure made this little guy's dreams come true!

Since getting home, we have had a few adventures, but the one I'm most proud of is Noah biking all the way to Sweet Clover Market and back home! Those little legs were so tired at bed time.
