Georgie and Fin

The big news of the week is that we have two new family members - Georgie and Fin.  Our friends gave Evie and Noah each a Beta fish, and they are very excited about them (yes, they chose the names themselves)!  I'm slightly worried about keeping two more creatures alive, but we're hoping they stick around for a while.

This time of year is always a little blah, after the excitement of the holidays is over and winter has set in.  I'm craving fresh air and sunshine.  Since those things are hard to get, we have to work a little harder to find fun things to do with the kids.  We were lucky to be able to take the kids to see Laurie Berkner in concert on Saturday at Higher Ground.  She is a kids' performer who is known to many, and we were very impressed with her talent and the way she engaged the kids at the show.  Live music is definitely a cure for the winter doldrums!

We also went to Get Air, a new-ish trampoline park over the weekend.  Evie LOVED it, but Noah wasn't so sure about it.  Noah is bold in so many ways that sometimes it's refreshing to see him err on the side of caution.

I'll end with a mom brag about Evie.  She got off the bus last week with a little smirk and started snapping her fingers.  She had been trying and trying to snap at home, and suddenly she figured it out and was so proud to show me.  Fast forward a couple of days, and she gets off the bus with another proud smile.  This time, she tells us that she was sent to First Grade for choice time, because she was the only one in her class that was behaving!  I assure you that she is far from perfect at home, but those couple of moments made us feel proud of our big girl!  By the way, when did my kids get so grown up?!
