First, at my mom's urging, I went to visit Grandma Barb and brought my flute. She has Alzheimer's and has lost much of her memory, but she has sat down at the piano a couple of times recently and can still play. So, we arrived, and Grandma didn't know who I was, but I got out my flute, and we played for about 45 minutes together while some of the other residents sang along. It was simple, yet there was sense of Christmas magic present that afternoon.
The other special thing that I did was go ice skating with Evie. She had been begging to go after watching a Caillou episode about it, so we spent the afternoon together, and it was simply fun! It was such a great break from the rush of holiday preparations.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas this week!
