Evelyn is officially 16 months old! I have a ton of pictures this week, so I'm going to keep the writing brief. Here are some details about life with Evie at 16 months:
- She is a chatterbox, and we can understand a lot of what she's saying. Some people refer to the number of words that their kid knows at this age, but honestly, we can't keep track! The ones I hear the most during the day are "Oot" (out), "No!", Mommy, Daddy, book, poop (!), nap, cup, bite, more
- Sleep is pretty good. She sleeps about 11 hours at night and has gone back to taking 2 naps for now. Some days she'll skip the morning nap, but she's not ready to give it up completely quite yet.
- She's a great eater, and her favorite foods are yogurt, milk, berries, turkey (also known as "gobble gobble"), and Oreos (I know this is bad!). She also loves popsicles, which seem to help when her teeth are hurting.
- We finally switched to using the big bathtub for baths. We had still been using the baby tub, and it was getting a little cramped for our tall girl!
- We think she has 9 teeth now: 4 on top, 5 on the bottom, including 2 molars
- She loves being outside, reading books, listening to music, taking things out of cupboards/bookcases/shoe racks, and playing with her cousins (especially Carly!).
- Evie stayed with her first non-family babysitter this week, and they both did great! It is giving Mommy the chance to get back to playing flute at church a little more often. Yay!
Now, here are the happenings of the last week (it was a busy one!). We have bid goodbye to summer, and we had our last hurrah before the neighborhood pool closed. I guess we'll have to find a new hangout for the cooler months.
| A little froggy found its way onto the water table. Evie was very curious, yet very gentle with the frog! |
| Last trip to the pool for 2012. :-( |
| Big girl bathtime! |
We also celebrated my birthday on Thursday. It was a wonderful day, and I felt so loved!
| Is this a preview of her teenage years? |

| B-Day gifts, with lots of helpers! |
On Saturday we had a huge family party at my sister's house. Despite tornado warnings (yes, in VT!), we moved the party indoors and had a wonderful time. Great music by King Me! (with Matt on drums), wood-fired pizza, Switchback on tap, family, friends, a brilliant rainbow, and fireworks. It doesn't get any better than that! Here are a bunch of photos from the party:
| She loves to slide! |
| See-sawing with cousin Carly |
| The girls enjoying the party! |
| Pizza della Volpe |
| YUM! |
| King Me! rocking the party |
| Helping Daddy on the drums |
| Our little drummer girl. I have no hope of her playing flute! |
| Matt played a couple of Evie's favorite kid songs on guitar at the end of the evening |
| I have never heard Matt sing in public before. He was awesome! |
| This girl LOVES music! She was clapping after every song |
| Playing with cousin Elliot |
| Playing with the big girls. They were so great with Evie, and Evie was able to say all of their names by the end of the party! |
| One of the most beautiful rainbows I've ever seen |
| Our friends Dileep and William |
| Having fun at the par-tay! |
| Crazy girl...we stayed a little too long past bedtime and she got wired! |
| Fireworks to end the party! |
| And of course, Roscoe was mad we left him home, so he emptied an entire pint of blueberries on the white carpet for us. |
| The morning after...ugh. Evie got up extra early, and we were extra tired, so we caved in and let her watch a little Sesame Street. |
| Once we woke up, we went to collect our stuff from Aunt Pea's house. They have all the fun toys! |
| Do you love the SMC shirt? :-) |
| This bike is more her speed for now. I can't believe I have a kid this big! |
