Fun week, lots of photos!

We have had a very busy and fun-filled week!  First, we got to meet baby William on Wednesday.  William's dad Dileep and I were office-mates at IBM way back when I was first working there 11 years ago.  William is such a sweet baby, and Evelyn seemed giant and LOUD compared to him!  It was such a treat to be able to hold William and it made me miss those days of having a tiny, sleepy, snuggly baby (don't worry, we aren't thinking about #2 yet!).  It also made me appreciate how much fun we have with Evelyn now that she is bigger and more interactive.  She makes us laugh every single day.

On Friday, we headed out on our first road trip to Boston (or as Evie likes to say, "Baaaaa"-ston).  I was quite organized for the trip, making my packing list a few days in advance, so it wasn't all that bad to pack everything up and get out the door.  Yes, there was a lot of gear, but we managed to get on the road around 1:00 as we had intended.  Evie did pretty well for the first half of the drive, and then for the last couple hours, she was bored and whiny.  Matt and I were singing kid songs for a VERY long time, but it averted a full melt-down!  The best part is that we got to meet up with Evie's godmother Ally for dinner that night.

That was Evie's first restaurant experience, and we were so proud of her.  She sat in a high chair at the table and had some food, and even applauded the waiter after he read us the list of specials!  It was kind of a late night (because I insisted on going to Target after dinner), so Evie dove for the sheets when we got back to our hotel room.

We were a little nervous, because it was also Evie's first night sleeping in a hotel, but she did great.  She even slept in until 8:30am!  Maybe we need to get some room-darkening shades at home!

Matt and Evie spent a lot of time hanging out together while we were in Boston, because I was at Ally's shower and bachelorette party.  They went on a little adventure to the hotel pool on Saturday, which Evie wasn't sure about at first, but ended up LOVING it!

We made it home safely on Sunday, although we had another couple of hours of singing kid songs from New Hampshire to Vermont.  I also had a few moments of laughing at myself using the breast pump in the car as other cars whizzed past us, praying that no one noticed what I was doing.  All in all, it was a very successful trip, and it has made us less anxious about traveling to Florida in a few weeks!

Roscoe was very happy to have us home, because he was having withdrawals from his usual cheerios consumption!  This is what he does after every one of Evelyn's meals in her high chair - we call it the "cheerio check."

We also spent a lot of time working on animal sounds in the car, and the latest is "cluck" for a chicken.  This one isn't quite as clear as "baaa" for the sheep, but we're still impressed!
