20 Weeks, lots of firsts!

I rolled over...yay!
This week, Miss Evelyn has done a lot of new things!  After last week's blog post, she successfully rolled from her back to her belly on Tuesday night.  Ironically, we completely missed the big event!  We were eating dinner, and she was on a blanket on the floor, and the next thing we knew, she was on her belly.  She has gotten much better at rolling over, and now she does it about 100 times a day since it's such a fun new trick (not so fun when you're trying to change her diaper, though!).  Here is a video of her when she had just learned to roll over.  As you can see, it was quite a bit of work at first!

The next "first" for the week was that we put her to bed in her crib on Friday night.  It just sort of happened that I was up there feeding her, and she fell asleep, so we decided to try it.  It didn't go very well!!  We are spoiled by normally sleeping through the night, and Evelyn was up at 2:30 and 4:30, at which point she peed through her pajamas, so it was a whole escapade of going back upstairs for another outfit, etc.  There are A LOT of stairs between our bedroom on the first floor and hers on the second floor!  We were all tired and cranky on Saturday, so we decided to stick with the co-sleeper for a little longer, or at least until we're feeling rested again.  She slept for 12 hours straight on Saturday night to make up for it.

After that experiment, we decided it was time for Evelyn to have a couple of new entertainment options, because she's not as happy to just be on a blanket on the floor anymore.  We were thinking of an excersaucer or a jumperoo, but after looking at the size of those things, we chickened out.  So, we headed out to (where else) Walmart to see what other options were available.  On a SATURDAY!  What were we thinking??????  We ended up getting a Bumbo chair so Evie can sit up and see what's going on, and a Jenny Jump-up, which is one of those door-frame jumpy things.  She seems to like both of them, so the Walmart trip was not in vain.
Loving the Bumbo chair!
After all those new things, we threw caution to the wind and decided to have Evie try some rice cereal last night.  She has been staring at our food lately and acting very interested (and kind of mad that we weren't sharing), so she was thrilled when she got to have her own food!  She grabbed the first spoonful with two hands and pulled it toward her mouth.  She didn't eat a ton, but she certainly enjoyed it.  We'll keep trying it and see how it goes.
First bite of rice cereal.  Not bad!
Nom nom nom

I also let her suck on an apple slice, which she drooled all over, but enjoyed quite a bit!

Here are a few bonus pictures from the week.  It was busy and lots of fun, but I could really use a nap.  Have I mentioned that I am back to drinking coffee?  :-)

This is the pile of bags that we need on a day when I go to work.  No joke.

  1. We have a jumperoo, an exersaucer, a bumbo, and a walker. All things Emma loves to be in since she hates to lay on her play mat or stay still. Emma's almost crawling, and I'm convinced it's because she is so active! We even use the Bumbo in the bath to save our arms!
