Hard Goodbyes

I've known this time was coming for a while, but we have two sets of difficult goodbyes hitting us this week.  We said goodbye to Noah's best friend Simon last night, because his family is moving to Canada.  These boys have been inseparable since kindergarten, all through the pandemic, and we have loved spending time with their family (even our dogs have grown up together!).  The boys have ridden the same bus and had many years of memories through sports, school, and hanging out at each other's houses as much as possible.  Noah feels completely at home with their family, and having Simon at our house is like having two Noah's!  The departure of their family is going to leave a big hole in our lives.

Somehow, by sad coincidence, our dear neighbors are moving to Michigan on the SAME DAY.  These neighbors arrived 4 years ago with a 1-year-old in tow, and their family has grown to 3 children during their time here.  It has been such a gift for us to have their sweet little kids around, drawing us out of the house to play, giving Evie kids to babysit, and building community in our neighborhood.  This too is going to be a big change, and we're going to miss them a ton.

With such a heavy heart this week, I'm not going to write much more, other than to say that we had a smooth transition into summer, and we love and appreciate the dads in our lives so very much and we were glad to celebrate them over the weekend on Father's Day!

We're going to hold on to the message as we walk through these hard days! Here's hoping for happier days ahead.
