We started off last week by being thrown into winter weather and winter driving! We got several inches of snow, black ice, and saw more cars off the road than we wanted to count. Thankfully, we didn't have to drive far during the worst of the weather, and we all escaped without any issues.

Noah started last week with school basketball tryouts, which turned out to be a challenging couple of days. They had 55 boys try out, and the most coveted spots were on the A and B teams. They don't make cuts like they did when I was growing up, so all the kids have the opportunity to play on the C team if they don't make A or B, but the C team is more of a development program with no games against other schools. We anxiously awaited the email with Noah's team placement on Tuesday night, only to find out that Noah was in a weird in-between position. He was invited to practice with the B team, but would play games with the C team (except the C team has no games). It was a disappointment, and it also felt confusing to all of us from a team and schedule perspective. After talking with the coach, Noah was given the option to just play on the B team, with the caveat that they aren't sure how much playing time he will see in games. Once he got over the emotional rollercoaster of the situation, Noah was excited for the opportunity to play on the B team, and we think it will help him to improve his game!

Evie has been feeling the grind of homework, quizzes and tests at school, while also working hard to get ready for Oireachtas, her New England regional dance competition coming up next weekend. On Sunday, she had a dress rehearsal with the other McFadden dancers, and they all looked polished and ready to compete! We are excited to see Evie dance on the big stage this Friday in Providence - say a little prayer for her at 8am Friday!

In between the kids' activities, we have been following along with our nephew Stefan's college soccer team at Bowdin as they compete in the NCAA DIII tournament, and the UVM soccer team as they head into playoffs, as well. Watching the games has given us some much-appreciated down time at home, and we even got to chow down on our mega Costco pretzel while watching!
