Hoco and Hunkering

Last week was homecoming week/spirit week at Essex, which made for some interesting outfits for Evie each day of the week, including Beach Day, Neon Day, Blue and Gold Day, and class color day!  It was fun, but she was excited to get back to her normal wardrobe this week!  To end the homecoming week, we all went to the EHS football game on Friday night, and then Evie attended the homecoming dance on Saturday night with her friends.  The girls got all dressed up and looked beautiful!

Homecoming "proposals" are a big thing - Evie's friend Noelle made this cute sign to invite her to the dance!

It was another week of beautiful weather, and our weekend outdoor adventure was the Whitcomb Corn Maze on Saturday.  This is one of our favorite fall traditions, and the big excitement this year was that Evie found one of the coveted leaves with a pumpkin drawn on it!  Matt has been looking for one every year without any success, so now we know that they do actually exist, and Evie won a free mini pumpkin for finding one!  Our visit to the corn maze wasn't quite as leisurely as in past years, because we had to get home for Noah to get to his baseball game and Evie to get ready for the dance, but I was just happy that the kids still wanted to do it!  Per tradition, we were all having fun until we couldn't find the last clue, and it felt like we were walking in circles.  People started to get cranky, hungry, and impatient, but we eventually made it out and all was well again!

Noah had a sports double-header on Saturday with a baseball game followed by a basketball game.  He hit his first-ever triple in his baseball game, which was exciting!  It's amazing how much he has improved at both sports, and I love watching his games!

Coach Dad is always there to help!

Cooler weather is moving in, and the mornings and evenings are darker these days.  It's a little sad, but I appreciate that we are naturally winding down earlier and having time for an earlier dinner and some family board games in the evenings.  It's hunkering season!

Homemade pizza night!

A raccoon visited our neighborhood!  I think he's looking for a place to hunker down too!

Happy pups playing ball!
