The past week hasn't felt like the easy-breezy last week of summer we'd have hoped for. Suddenly, it was crunch time! We had all the back to school errands - some necessary (school supplies), and some that were deemed necessary (you know, like getting a second earring piercing, getting nails done, etc.). We wanted the kids to feel confident and excited going into the school year, so we obliged for a few of the unnecessary errands too.

Meanwhile, Noah realized that summer was winding down, and we had promised that he could re-do his room over the summer, so that was also on the docket for last week. The most arduous part of the job was the clean-out process! We went through all the toys, legos, books, the nightstand, desk, and dresser. That took the better part of two days, and then we prepped the room, repaired the walls, and finally got to painting. The painting was the fastest part of the whole process, and Evie and Noah were a big help with that! We are still getting things put back together, and Noah has some decorating to do, but it is a huge relief to have that project mostly complete. As much work as it was, it feels good to start the new school year off with a fresh, clean room!

We interspersed some fun into week too! We did some school shopping at the mall, and Evie got her second earrings pierced! There was also mountain biking, a book club paddleboarding outing, an outdoor movie night for Noah, a sleepover for Evie, and a date night for us!

It was a good week to be busy, because the start of school has definitely been looming in everyone's mind. Noah had an orientation yesterday at his middle school, and Evie will have orientation at high school today. After visiting his school, Noah is feeling more excited than nervous, and we are hoping the same will be true for Evie after her orientation day. Let the adventures of the new year begin!
