Halloween week is always an exciting one! We carved our pumpkins the day before Halloween, squeezed in after school and before basketball practice. The first trick of the day was that one pumpkin was rotten on the inside...I can't even describe the disgusting smell that came out when we cut it open. YUCK. We recovered quickly with a run over to Chapin Orchard and everyone got their pumpkin carved, and Noah made it to practice on time.

Later that evening, the doorbell rang, and we found a funny note on our door that the "Pumpkin Perpetratorz were here!" with a porch full of hilariously carved pumpkins all lit up. Suspecting some certain nephews of the crime, we looked at the Ring doorbell recording, which only made us laugh harder. The "criminals" were in full costume, so their identity remained a secret!

Halloween was a fun gathering at our house. We always end up with a different collection of people each year, and this year, Evie had a couple friends and their families join us. The kids took off on their own, not really needing parents to tag along for trick-or-treating. However, we love to go out and visit with neighbors, and since it was a balmy 70 degrees this year, we still went out on our neighborhood walk while the kids were out and about. For all the past rainy, cold nights that we've been out on Halloween, this is the nicest one I can remember. Grandma, Grandpa, and Elliot manned the candy bowl at home for us!

The kids had a 3-day weekend off from school, so we used the chance to go get our Covid boosters. It was nice to have the extra time to recover, because we all felt a little blah the next day. Rounding out the weekend, both kids spent some time with friends on Sunday afternoon, so Matt and I went out for a solo hike with Frankie. We were reminiscing about how we used to go on hikes like that every weekend with Roscoe, and now it's a special treat!
