Oireachtas and Grandma's Birthday!

It was a fairly quiet week followed by a very busy weekend.  Matt, Evie and I traveled to Hartford, CT for Evie's New England regional Irish dance competition on Friday (Noah stayed home with Grandma and Grandpa).  Evie worked really hard to prepare for this competition, and she had set the goal of making the top 10.  We were just hoping that she would feel like she had done her best.  We did everything we could to set her up for success - making sure her dress was ready, shoes were polished, nails were done, and hair and makeup were perfect.  With all the pieces in place, Evie got up with confidence and danced all alone on a big stage in front of 5 judges.  We were so proud of her, and she had a big smile on her face.  It went well, and then we waited for about 6 hours for results!  They announce the results in a big ceremony, which adds to the excitement, and Evie was thrilled to find out that she placed 8th out of 39 competitors.  The whole day was busy, as we bounced from one ballroom to another watching the other McFadden dancers compete, and we finally returned to our hotel room about 8:30pm, completely exhausted.  It was an awesome day, and we were so proud of Evie!

Meanwhile, Noah had a lot of fun with Grandma and Grandpa!

We traveled home on Sunday in time to celebrate Grandma Betti's 75th birthday!  It was a big milestone, but she's not one to want a big party, so we had a nice little family celebration.  We are so lucky to have her as a mom and Grandma - we love you, Grandma!!

The birthday sign lit on fire from the candles! Thanks to Elliot for the quick reaction to blow it out!

Make a wish!
