Harvest Time

Last week began in a blah way, because the whole house got our Covid boosters.  Noah was feeling crummy enough to stay home from school, and the rest of us felt tired and dull for about 24 hours, but we are hopeful that this will help us stay healthy this winter!

We were starting to panic that the fall was going by quickly, and we hadn't visited Whitcomb's yet for the corn maze and pumpkins.  Luckily, there was a nice day mid-week when the kids had early release from school, and we were able to squeeze in a visit.  It was kind of nice to go on a weekday when the farm was quieter and less crowded!

Keeping the tradition alive!

Last Sweet Scoops visit of the year!

Evie had a couple exciting events last week.  On Friday, she was part of a group of students chosen to be "fitness ambassadors" for the new fitness center that was gifted to their school.  There was an assembly, ribbon cutting, and then a demonstration of all the new equipment.  I had never heard of Jake Steinfeld before, but apparently he was a successful fitness guru, and he has the goal of donating fitness equipment to schools in all 50 states.  How lucky we are to be a part of his generosity!

Saturday morning, Noah toughed out a double-header for football in the POURING rain (we're talking about nearly 3 inches of rain that fell on Saturday!).  We felt so bad for the players, coaches, and refs! Luckily, we had Aunt Pea's amazing pop-up tent, so we were able to stay mostly dry while watching.  Noah's team lost both games, and he burst into tears when it was all over.  The poor kid was cold, wet, hungry, exhausted and frustrated.  It was a tough morning!

From there, we went home and quickly loaded the car for a trip to Massachusetts for Evie's dance competition.  She competed on Sunday morning, and had a similarly tough morning of competition like Noah did the day before.  Irish Dance is a judged sport, so there is some subjectivity to the outcome, which can be frustrating.  This competition was good practice for Evie before the regional competition in November, but the results were not what she hoped they'd be.  She got to debut her new dress and wig, which looked gorgeous, and we did a little shopping on the way home to lift everyone's spirits!
