Summer in November

The big story of the past week is the weather!  70 and sunny in November is unheard of, and to have weather like that for several days in a row was record-breaking.  We spent as much time as we could outside enjoying it, and finishing up all the chores that we wanted to do before winter arrives (cleaning cars, washing windows, etc.).  It was a low-key week at our house, because Evie had a cold and missed a few days of school.  Noah stayed home one day, thinking he was catching the cold, but he felt fine by afternoon, thankfully!

It was so pleasant outside!

Thank goodness Noah bounced back so quickly, because his class had a field trip on Thursday, and I was really praying he wouldn't miss it.  This was the first real field trip (complete with chaperones and a bus!) that Noah has had since he began school.  The last time we did something like this was when he was in preschool, and ironically, we went to the same location - The Audubon Center in Huntington.  I was so glad to be able to go along.  The first half of the day was spent at the Birds of Vermont Museum, and the second half was out in the woods learning wilderness skills.  The kids learned about surviving in the woods, then they built shelters and learned to (safely!) make a fire.  What a great experience!

Inside the workshop where the bird statues are carved.  Noah loved seeing all the tools!

These boys built an AWESOME shelter together!

We did a family holiday photo session on Saturday, then enjoyed more of the beautiful weather with some pickleball and a bonfire with friends in the evening.  With an extra hour of sleep on Saturday night, it was an especially great weekend! :-)

Getting a little treat from Boxcar Bakery to celebrate great behavior for family photos!  We welcome any excuse to visit Boxcar Bakery!!
