Crossing the Finish Line!

It was another whirlwind week of wrapping up the school year, followed by a fun weekend to kick off summer! As always, the end of school was a frenzy of end-of-year festivities, goodbyes, and celebrations. We scrambled to gather gift cards and write thank-yous to the teachers that left a lasting impression, and somehow we made it to the finish line on Thursday.

As part of the year-end festivities, Noah's grade held a play of The Lorax, where each class performed a scene. The kids sang songs, wore homemade tie dyed shirts, donned paper crowns, and stepped up to the microphone to recite their lines in the cutest voices. When they ended the performance singing, "What a Wonderful World," it brought tears to my eyes! These sweet kids bring so much joy to the world! We were invited back to Noah's classroom (for the first time in 2 years!) to see all his work, including a special research project and diorama about lions. It was a special morning, knowing that this would be our final goodbye to EES, where we have made so many treasured memories over the past 6 years.

Evie's class celebrated with a field trip to go bowling, and then they had a send-off at the end of the school day. The 5th graders walked past all the 3rd and 4th graders and all the teachers, as well as parents, who applauded and cheered them on for all their accomplishments. It's hard to believe Evie is off to middle school next year, but she is ready and excited to move on!

Maybe it was a good thing, but we hardly had time to process the emotions of the end of the year, because we hopped in the car the next morning and headed to Boston! Evie had a dance competition on Friday afternoon, and she did GREAT! She finished in 1st place for three of her dances, and in 3rd place for the other one. She has been working hard at dance, and we are so proud of these great results!

The Boston weekend continued with more fun on Saturday. First, a Duck Boat tour, then some time at the Science Museum, and finally the kids' first Red Sox game at Fenway Park. Noah had stars in his eyes when he first saw the field at Fenway, but honestly, both kids loved watching the game! We were impressed with their stamina for such a busy day, and we all crashed hard that night.

Father's Day was a little different from our normal celebration at home, but the whole weekend was a great celebration of family time. We had a leisurely drive home on Sunday, with a stop for some shopping at the outlets, then had a nice Father's Day dinner with Grandpa Tom when we got back to VT. It hasn't quite soaked in that summer vacation is here yet, but we are changing gears this week!
