Last week was the first full week of school, and it felt long, but it was also nice to feel like we were finally settling into our new routine. There was time for grown-up fun while the kids were at school, so I took advantage and went for a couple puppy hikes, played pickleball, and finally got caught up on a few to-do list items at home.

Unfortunately, we ended the week with the first set of back-to-school germs. Friday night, Noah uttered the words, "it hurts to swallow." We thought he was just tired, but the next day, he was congested, had a headache, a belly ache, and a fever. This is the first illness we have had in our house since before Covid began, so it gave us a scare since he had so many Covid symptoms. My gut instinct was that it was just a back-to-school cold (remember those?!), but his doctor recommended a Covid test since he had several symptoms. Noah handled the test like a champ, and we are happy to report that his result was negative and he is feeling much better!

As a result of Noah feeling sick, we had a pretty low-key Labor Day Weekend. We had lots of time for reading, watching movies, and not rushing to get anywhere. We ended the weekend with my 40th Birthday, and thankfully we had Noah's test results back in time to allow us to have a family birthday celebration in the evening. Since Matt and I both turned 40 this year, we are hoping to take a nice vacation this Winter to celebrate our milestones (or as soon as it's safe to travel again!).
